Welcome to the New ISA Website
Monday, November 12, 2018 in News
The ISA website is a tool for the general public, prospective appraisers, and members of ISA to learn about personal property appraising and the value of ISA membership. With our membership and reach growing, we decided it was time for a refresh.
The new ISA website, launched November 12, incorporates modern design trends and seeks to present a vast amount of information in a clear, accessible way.
The process of creating the new website took a full year, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Board, the volunteers who participated in research, and ISA staff. In November 2017, the ISA board decided to move ahead with this project, beginning with extensive research on how to optimize the website for users and for visibility with search engines. Research was also done to determine how real users interacted with the site, and how to make it even easier for them to locate crucial information.
The ISA website redesign resulted in a complete overhaul of the site’s navigation and the content on many of the pages. The idea of “Less is More” drove us to make sure that information presented is concise, structured, and relevant.
In July 2018, the first iteration of the website’s design was presented to ISA staff and leadership for their approval. From there, we worked to simplify all site content and add more interactive elements to the pages, especially videos on membership, education, and why consumers should choose an ISA appraiser.
New Features and Updates
Bringing business leads to you
The Find an ISA Member tool, one of the most-visited areas of ISA’s previous website and a significant driver of business for ISA appraisers, is now front and center on the homepage. Browsing by categories is emphasized for easier searching, and resources on the importance of choosing an ISA appraiser are easily located.
Find the education and member benefits you need
While the general public is a huge source of traffic for the ISA website, ISA members also use the website heavily to advance their education, access their benefits, and ensure they are fulfilling their membership requirements. With this in mind, we made sure that the section of the site for members saw a complete overhaul with an eye to organization.
The Course Calendar is one of the most exciting new features of the ISA website. Now, you can filter courses by category and format type (live online, webinar, in-person) so you can more easily find the courses in the convenient formats you need, whether online USPAP courses, in-person specialized education, or webinars.
The credentialing section of the site now clearly outlines the membership advancement process and requirements so that you have a clear path to follow as you deepen your knowledge of personal property appraising.
You may notice this blog post is now hosted on the main ISA website, along with the rest of the ISA blog. This means better visibility for ISA’s educational blog posts and more ways for the general public and other appraisers to interact with all the rich information on the site.
