About

Sonjia Weinstein is an Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers with a specialty in Fine Art, and also a member of the Santa Fe Estate Planning Council. She earned a B.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design and a M.A. in American Studies with a focus on public art and material culture from the University of Wyoming. Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sonjia offers appraisal services throughout New Mexico and Colorado as well as online.

Sonjia has been performing high-value appraisals since 2016, with an emphasis on appraisals for estate planning, insurance and estate distribution. She also provides appraisals for collection stewardship and litigation support. 

In the scope of estate work, she has helped clients place artwork in auctions and has also facilitated donations to museums. Her broad knowledge of materials, techniques and artists provides a wealth of information for accurate appraisals. She is thorough in her research and has done research for exhibitions at the University of Wyoming Art Museum and Wyoming State Museum.

In addition to work for private clients, Sonjia has also provided appraisals to organizations such as the Albany County Library Foundation and Bank of America.

The lists of artists whose work she has appraised includes, but is not limited to, Andy Warhol, Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall, Victor Vaserly, C.M. Russell, Stanton Engelhart, Henrietta Mueller, Frank Howell, Virginia Pitman, Robert Russin and R.C. Gorman.
