About

Brenda Simonson-Mohle, ISA CAPP is certified with the International Society of Appraisers and specializes in fine and decorative art.  She has been appraising fine art for over 35 years and began her career in the art world as a gallery consultant in 1980 and later opened Signet Art in Dallas, Texas, a full-service art advisory company, in 1987.  

Signet Art provides advice on acquisition, deaccession, framing, installation and collection management to corporations, institutions and individuals.  Appraisal services for paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints, collectibles and decorative art are also provided.  

Our clients include museums, attorneys, bank trusts officers, estate executors (for taxable estates as well as equatable distribution), large shipping companies, other appraisers, corporations, individual collectors, High New Worth Individuals, and Family Offices.  Appraisals are provided for insurance qualification, damage claim, donation, estate settlement, pre-purchase advice and equitable distribution of property in divorce matters. Additionally, Brenda provides appraisal review, litigation support and expert witness services. 

As an ISA member, Ms. Simonson-Mohle’s appraisals conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and to the Ethical Standards and Report Writing Standards of the International Society of Appraisers

Brenda has been very involved with ISA since she first joined in 1987.  At the local level, she has served as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president (two separate terms) of NTISA.   At the national level, she has served as Chair of the Fine Art Committee (1996-1998), Vice Chair of the Ethics Committee (2000), Chair of the Ethics Committee (2001-2003), Chair of Designation and Review Committee (2007-2009).   She was named Outstanding Member-Fine Art Division (1998) and was awarded the President’s Award (2004-2005) as well as many Service Awards.  Additionally, Brenda has developed and taught a specialty course covering best practices in the appraisal of fine art paintings and prints.

Appraiser and Art Advisor

Appraisal services include documenting, assessing and valuing collections.  Extensive experience in appraisal of personal property (specializing in fine and decorative art) for insurance qualification, charitable donation, damage and loss claims, equitable distribution of property for estate or divorce matters, resale and pre-purchase consultation.

Consulting services to provide professional assistance to corporations, institutions and individuals wishing to build art collections.  Providing professional assistance in the selection of artists and individual pieces, commissioning works of art, custom framing, installation, documentation of collections and all peripheral art needs.

Brokerage services for de-accession of collections are also offered for those wishing to downsize their collections.  These services include selection of appropriate sales venues, negotiating the best commission rates, managing the packing, shipping and advertising of pieces. 

Clients include several major banking institutions, educational and museum institutions, large corporations, trust officers, estate executors, attorneys and individual collectors.
