About

Meet Terri Stearn, the owner of Detroit Fine Art Appraisals. She is an accredited art appraiser through the International Society of Appraisers and The American Society of Appraisers, ASA designation. Since opening her business, Terri has come across an extraordinary collection of unusual, beautiful and sometimes unbelievably valuable treasures. 

Stearn has always loved art. She holds a degree in art history and fine art from Eastern Michigan University and Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Her company, Detroit Fine Art Appraisals, which has been in business since 2014, specializes in appraising all forms of Fine Art including, but not limited to, post war modern art, contemporary art, glass and ceramic art and artworks by Detroit artists. Many of Stearn’s clients are individuals with large, private collections. She also works with the Detroit Institute of Art to appraise works donated to the museum. Most recently Terri serves as a Grant panelist for The Michigan Council for Arts and Culture awarding over $100,000 to arts in the school programs. 

While she can appraise everything from carpets to paintings to antiques (jewelry is the only item she prefers not to work with), Stearn’s field of expertise is Contemporary art, Detroit art, and religious relics,  (she was hired by Detroit’s own archdiocese), glass and Judaica. Stearn recently came to appraise the collection of a synagogue only to discover that it includes a dreidel that was taken into space by a Jewish astronaut.
