About

I received my Ph.D from Florida State University. My research concentrated on the history of textual technologies. I also studied bibliography and editorial theory. The book historian François Dupuigrenet Desroussilles directed my dissertation. Rare Book School at the University of Virginia provided opportunities for continuing education and broadened my understanding of contemporary book collecting and print culture. My professional publications have concentrated on varying aspects of print culture in the early American Republic. I am an editor for a volume of the scholarly critical Cooper Edition published by SUNY. The volume will include texts of The American Democrat and A Letter to His Countrymen. I am an adjunct professor at Mercer University where I teach, Ethics and the Global Art Trade.

I received my appraisal training from the mentoring program conducted by the International Society of Appraisers. As a consultant, I specialize in helping clients with evaluating, maintaining, and growing a library. I, also, help with the valuation of individual books and advise on the orderly liquidation of book collections. My appraisal services includes valuation reports for insurance and charitable donation. I am the proprietor of Lenz Appraisals, LLC
