Dual accredited member status of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) and holds the ISA-AM designation. Antiques, Furnishings & Decorative Arts (AF&DA) and Fine Art (FA), and SpecialtyStudies: In Horology, (Watches & Clocks).

He is a published writer with a column called ‘Appraisers Corner’ in the Journal of Watches & Clocks Collectors Association (NAWCC). He also writes a monthly column, "For What its Worth" for an Eastern Ontario magazine. "The Cornwall Seeker" John is an accomplished speaker, having given many presentations in both Canada and the United States.
